POLISH-STYLE MARDI GRAS AT SLEDZ
Last year's Sledz, a Polish-style mardi gras,
was very successful, but attendance at the 2008 edition
surpassed even that. The event took place at the La Villa in
Chicago, Illinois, under the able chairmanship of Mark Orwat..
Held the evening before Ash Wednesday on what is known as Fat
Tuesday, the dinner offered a selection of four different entrees,
including fish, chicken, veal and pork. And, of course, there were
plenty of pączki.
The "pageant," complete with appropriate costumes was as much fun as
ever and the crowd enjoyed the crowning of our new St. Joseph, Frank
Czaja, who will act as chaplain for the year. Music was provided
by The Next Step with Gennie "O".
