PRE-LENTEN FUN AT SLEDZ

The Chicago Society's 2007 Sledz, a Polish-style mardi gras, was one of the most successful editions of the annual event in several years ... and those in attendance appeared to enjoy every minute of the festivities. The event took place at he Four Seasons Mirage in Schiller Park, Illinois, under the careful guidance of Chairman Mark Hrycko.

Guests at Sledz ranged in age from the 20s to one lady who just celebrated her 90th birthday, and was ready to lead everyone in song and dance.

Held the evening before Ash Wednesday on what is known as Fat Tuesday, the dinner offered a selection of fish or beef and chicken, and, of course, paczki.

The "pageant," complete with appropriate costumes was as much fun as ever and the crowd enjoyed the crowning of our new St. Joseph, Casey Baczynski, who will act as chaplain for the year. Music was provided by The Next Step with Gennie "O".
