On Saturday, December 10, 2005, the Annual Chicago Society Deserving Children’s Christmas Party was held at the Polish National Alliance cafeteria, Chicago, Illinois. This was arranged through the courtesy of PNA President Frank Spula and the Polish National Alliance.

A lunch of hot dogs, cookies, potato chips, soda and milk was served.

The Chicago Society helpers sang Christmas carols. The Young Polonia Dance Group, members of the Northwest Center of Traditional Dance, provided entertainment and a children’s choir, which sang Polish carols. The choreography and singing is under the direction of Cecylia Roznowska and her daughter Ania Krysinski, President of the Center, whose husband, Janusz, is a new member of the Chicago Society. Teresa Pacyniak, wife of Brother Ted Pacyniak, is very active with the group.

There were sixty-one children present and about twenty-five to thirty parents. The children were chosen by the Social Workers of the Polish American Association.

Immediately after the entertainment, Santa Claus (Brother Andy Batorski) arrived and distributed presents to the children. Each present was addressed by name and age, and upon leaving each child received an envelope containing $5.00. The chairman of the event for the 42nd year was Brother Ro Matuszczak.

The following persons gave of their time and effort: Andy Batorski as Santa, co-chairman John Wojciechowski, Richard Ciesla, Peter Dykas, T. Ron Jasinski-Herbert, Mark Cwiakala, Frank Czaja and son Patryk Czaja, Chris Matuszczak (the "cooker") and Lottie Pilarski (assistant chef). Bill Folak obtained the hot dogs and buns at cost; Peter Dykas contributed soda and cups from the Chicago Intercollegiate Council; Joe Bauerle donated cookies; and Frank Czaja obtained potato chips for the party. Our Social Director, Charles Komosa, his wife Agata and son Charles, Jr., were also present.

Most of the gifts were donated by Jewel-Osco, thanks to the intervention of Integra Communications, whose president is Mario Pucharic. .

As in the past, special thanks go to Brother Ted Szywala and Brother John Wojciechowski for their generous monetary contributions.
