Matt Rodriquez, former Chicago Superintendent of Police, spoke on the topic "Can Homeland Security Protect Chicago?" at the October meeting. Not only was the address well received, but it evoked discussion and numerous questions.

An Oktoberfest Buffet Dinner, which included duck and cutlets, was served by member Bill Folak and his daughter, Veronica Folak, of Lincoln Tavern.

The meeting concluded with a vigorous and enthusiastic discussion about the future of the Chicago Society.
