The Chicago Society banquet celebrating
Poland's 90th Anniversary was held on Saturday, November 8, 2008, at
Przybylo's White Eagle Banquets. Chairman of the event was Mark
Hrycko. The committee consisted of President T. Ron
Jasinski-Herbert, Charles Komosa, Mark Orwat, Anthony Szplit,
William Drozd and Ro Matuszczak. The reception desk was attended by
Agata Komosa, Marilyn Mazewski-Potasiak and Chris Matuszczak.
President Jasinski-Herbert
delivered a brief welcome in both Polish and English.
The guests enjoyed a steak and boneless
chicken dinner. The cocktail and dinner music was provided by Carl
Linden and the Chicago Violin Artists. Following the program, well
conducted by the Master of Ceremonies, Brother Charles Komosa,
was dance music provided by the Downtown Sound orchestra conducted
by Dan Mateja into the wee hours of the morning.
An informative and moving address was
delivered by Zygmunt Matynia, Consul General of the Republic of
Poland in Chicago, who was accompanied by his wife, Bozena.
The Polonaise and Krakowiak were
beautifully performed by the Polonia Song and Dance Ensemble. The
invocation and benediction were delivered by clergy of the Roman
Catholic and Polish National Catholic Churches, respectively.
