Numerous candidates attended the second annual Bigos Dinner and Candidates Night of the Chicago Society on October 10, 2008. The event was held almost a month prior to the election so that it would not be in too close proximity to the banquet celebrating the 90th Anniversary of Polish Independence in early November.

The guests were welcomed by T. Ron Jasinski-Herbert, President of the Chicago Society. Candidates were introduced by Vice President Charles Komosa and Director Mark Hrycko, who organized the event. Romuald Matuszczak conducted a raffle for a wide selection of prizes.

The bigos dinner, which also featured roast pork, was catered by Sawa's Old Warsaw restaurant and held at the Copernicus Civic and Cultural Center in northwest Chicago.
